March 9 , 6:30 P.M.- Great Miami Water Monitoring Committee This steering committee is planning a monthly citizen-lead water qualithy monitoring program on the lower Great Miami River. March 16 , 6:30 P.M.- Rivers Unlimited Volunteer Committee Come get engaged in the efforts to protect and cleanup our rivers and streams. The volunteer committee provides opportunities for people of all levels of experience, and presents opportunities for participation in direct action locally, statewide policy and social events. March 31- Northeast Ohio Watershed Council The next NEO council meeting is scheduled for March 31. The Northeast Ohio Watershed Council has adopted the name: "NEO Watershed Council." This is consistent with the widely adopted "NEO" prefix used by numerous educational and development groups across Northeastern Ohio . The NEO Council is active in exploring a broad marketing initiative that could be used by all the partners in their council. They are also busy planning and designing an interactive mapping feature that could be used by members and other interested citizens. April 14- The Ohio Environmental Council's Lobby Day Join the Ohio Environmental Council's environmental-conservation network to bring environmental concerns and priorities directly to state lawmakers and officials from environmental and regulatory agencies. April 20, 1 P.M.- Southwest Ohio Watershed Council The next SW council meeting will take place at Caesar Creek State Park on April 20 in the Hopewell day lodge outside Waynesville, from 1 – 4 p.m. The theme will be an explanation of federal, state & local government grant opportunities. Our featured speaker will be from the US Dept. of Agriculture, and will spotlight the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and its funding opportunities. The day lodge is located outside Waynesville on Middletown Road , off of Clarksville Road . The address of the park office is 8570 E. State Route 73, Waynesville OH 45068. April 24th- Learn to Canoe with RU This class, given by American Canoe Association certified instructors, is ideal for anyone interested paddling a canoe in a safe and rewarding manner on Ohio's waterways. The course will be held on a pond on the University of Miami's campus in Oxford, OH. Class size is limited. Please email us for more info. April 24, 9 A.M.- East Fork Riversweep Come help clean up the East Fork of the Little Miami River. Click here for details. April 27- Northwest Ohio Watershed Council The next NOW Council meeting will be on April 27 in Findlay . The Northwest Ohio Watershed (NOW) Council met on January 26 at the Coastal Management Office in Sandusky . They discussed the history and mission of the office as well as the list of funding opportunities available to watershed groups. Various council members are working on individual GLRI Proposals in addition to the collective efforts associated with the Lake Erie LaMP and the Western Lake Erie Basin Partnership. April 29th- Friends of the Great Miami Fundraiser Starting at 6:00 P.M., 15% of all sales at the Riverbank Cafe in Hamilton, OH will go toward the program work of the Friends of the Great Miami River. June 24, 25 and 26- The 9th Annual Paddlefest This year’s Paddlefest Weekend will feature fun, challenging and educational activities for folks of all ages and skill levels. Take a moment to check out the Ohio River Way's updated website for the details. August 21- The Fremont Cup Join us for a day of paddling and celebration on the Great Miami River. The event features 10 and 19 mile races for canoes and kayaks and a 5 mile recreational float. Click here for details. |
